Discover Amigoss Preschool and Long Day Care centre
Educating through playing in an enriched discovery-learning environment since 1980
Amigoss Pre-School & Long Day Care
Established in 1980 as an ACCREDITED COMMUNITY BASED child care facility, Amigoss preschool and long day care centre is an affordable local Child Care Facility located in Glebe.
We are open for 51 weeks per year, closing for approximately a week over Christmas. We are also closed on Public Holidays.
We believe that children learn through an active, hand on approach. We are convinced that children learn best through play in an enriched discovery-learning environment. We believe in treating children as individuals with different learning styles. AMIGOSS provides the environment that your child needs to have fun. At the same time, safe practices are our priority.
At AMIGOSS, we believe that the centre environment should be inviting and welcoming to children, their families, educators and visitors. The centre implements a child-centered program based upon the principles outlined in the National Early Years Learning Framework – Being, Belonging & Becoming. The centre respects the National Law and National Regulations and follows the standards accordingly.
Our bilingual approach allows children to discover the Spanish language and culture. Come and see it for yourself!
Our Philosophy
- To have fun! Ensure that our children have the right to enjoy their childhood and to be a child without undue pressure.
- To educate! To create an educational environment where children are given lots of opportunities to practice and consolidate their skills in key learning areas including: language and literacy; creative and expressive art; mathematics; science and social and emotional development working towards the learning outcomes as expressed in the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) – ‘Being, Belonging & Becoming’.
- To teach the Spanish language! We offer to our children an amazing introduction to the Spanish language. Having fun and learning with interactive games, experiments, cooking, workshops, songs and storytelling in a vibrant and gently-focused atmosphere.
- To enjoy our diversity! We celebrate our individual differences and learn from each other.
- Responsibility.
- Integrity.
- Respect.
- Diversity.
- Team Work.
- Social Responsibility.
- Environmental Awareness.
We feel it is important to instil our values in children’s lives through our everyday contact with them. We believe that standards and morals that are introduced at an early age result in happy children who develop into well adjusted young adults.
