This week we have been enjoying looking after the chickens, and have enjoyed some mat time with them.

Taking care of living things encourages kindness and altruism.

We have been doing Anzac Day activities, too. We have been painting poppies, counting the petals, talking about fighting and whether or not it is good or bad, and we even baked some Anzac biscuits.

Many of the children do not yet have an understanding of the significance of Anzac Day but we approached it in terms of ‘fighting’, and taught them about the reason we have poppy flowers – to remember each person who went to fight and how brave they were.

We also spent some time mixing different coloured liquids together with tubs and plastic syringes. We learned a little about what results when mixing two colours together.

Next week we will continue to explore this concept in many ways.
